Employment Skills Training Services

Certified Nurse Aide Class

The CNA class prepares students to achieve the level of health/science knowledge, patient care skills, and abilities that are needed and required to provide basic care to patients/residents in long term care facilities. The class consists of four weeks of classroom instruction and one week of clinical experience. The class will prepare the student to pass the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Examination in order to receive Certified Nursing Assistant status. The Achievement Center is a certified training provider for WIA, permitting referrals from the local Career Center, and our CARF accreditation allows us to serve referrals from the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services and Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency. Private pay is also accepted.

Cost of Class: $1,800.00

  • Alabama Career Center Applicants-

          Go to the Opelika Career Center located on Frederick Road across from Tiger Town. Tell them you are interested in taking the CNA class at the              Achievement Center or call (334) 749-5056.

Qualifications:

  • 17 years of age or older
  • Felony Free background
  • 6th Grade level in Reading
  • 6th Grade level in Math
  • Able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently
  • Have 20/40 Vision
  • Stand and walk 36-66% of the day
  • Frequently carry objects, twist, push/pull, bend, reach forward, reach overhead
  • Negative Drug Test Result
  • Negative TB skin test

 You will be provided with:

  • Five weeks of intensive training by an instructor approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health. The instructor must have a current Alabama Nursing License, two years of nursing experience (one year with the elderly) and have one of the following: Master’s degree in nursing, Train the Trainer Certification in Alabama, Instructor Training with the American Red Cross, or a current State of Alabama Teaching certificate.

  • Fee for CNA exam (2) Background check, Drug Screen, TB test, Hepatitis B Vaccination

After completing all state, classroom, and clinical requirements of the program, the student must pass a two-part state exam (written examination and skills evaluation) in order to become certified and listed on the Alabama Nurse Aide Registry.

Forklift–Achievement Center

A course designed to provide the knowledge and skill necessary to safely operate a forklift in the workplace. Material will be presented in a classroom setting as well as hands on training using the forklift. A written and application test is given at the end of the class. An Operator Training Certificate is presented to those who pass.

Cost of Class:$150
